On January 24, 2025, Scottish rock band Vukovi released their fourth studio album, “My God Has Got a Gun.” The album consists of 11 songs and was released via Sharptone. The core members of Vukovi include Janine Shilstone on vocals and Hamish Reilly on guitar.

The album was produced by Machine at the 'The Machine Shop' Recording Studio in Austin. The band spent several weeks in Texas to get the album recorded and perfected. The album’s artwork was painted by Shilstone herself.

Each song on the album has a different sound and feel without ever losing Vukovi’s signature sound. This balance can be difficult to strike, but Vukovi does it effortlessly. This allows listeners to stay interested in the album for the duration of the album without it getting boring.

The mixing on the album is well done. The instrumentals are in perfect balance with the vocals, allowing the vocals to be understood clearly. This can be difficult to do, especially on a rock album like this one. There are different effects done on the songs that add a nice touch to the songs, keeping things interesting with experimentation.

The lyrics of this album are relatable. Though many of the songs are labeled as “explicit,” the album will connect to those who have been through tough times in their life. The musicians clearly connect with the songs they sing based on their passion and strength in their voices and performances.

This album is the perfect length at 11 songs. While it did feel a bit long at times, the songs are different and interesting enough that they hold the listeners’ attention throughout. Each song has a different length, which helps break things up as well. When listeners reach the final song, they will feel like they have a complete journey that was exciting to go on.

Overall, this album is a great album for fans of rock music. Quite a few of the songs are marked as “explicit,” so it may not be best for little ears. However, this album is a great album for rock fans, especially those who love strong female singers. It is also a great album for those who want to start getting into rock music.
