On March 28, 2025, Scottish band Sacred Paws released their latest album, “Jump Into Life.” The album features Ray Aggs on guitar, bass, and vocals, and Eilidh Rodgers on drums and vocals. The album comes after the band’s five-year hiatus.

“It’s definitely a Sacred Paws record, but it feels a bit older and wiser,” said the band about the album. “We took a few years working on the songwriting and pushed ourselves creatively. We wrote a lot in that time, but we made sure every song had something that we fell in love with.”

The sound of the album harkens back to the 1970s and 1980s with the sounds and instrumentation on the tracks. The messages of the album feel the same. Many of the songs have a surfer rock sound to them.

The album has a wisdom to it that feels like it has experienced life and is coming forward with messages. This is likely because the duo took some time off to live life and work on themselves and their creative works. The time off served them well as this album has a maturity to it that would not be there otherwise.

The mixing on the album is a bit muddy at some points. The lyrics come through, but a lot of the instruments seem to be jumbled together. In some ways, this adds to the overall vibe of the album, but in some instances, it distracts from the lyrics.

The album’s leading single is “Turn Me Down.” It is the duo’s attempt and resolve to stay positive, even in the face of heartbreak. The song is upbeat, despite the sadness of the breakup. People will be able to relate to this song, especially when trying to carry on through life after heartbreak.

Overall, the album is decent. While the background instruments are a bit muddy at some points, this vibe is fairly popular. None of the songs on the album are labeled as explicit, so listeners of all ages will find something they enjoy in the album. The album is relatable, and it is clear that the duo is deeply passionate about and connected to the songs as well.
