Junk journaling has become popular over the past few years. People use it to gather things like movie tickets and other things that would normally get thrown away, and put them in a notebook or journal. I decided to use it as a way to gather things pertaining to the Celtic world. I have included things like tags with sayings, concert tickets, movie tickets, news articles, and more.
1. Gather your materials.
-Blank Journal: I used a sketchbook-type journal, but use
what works for you and your vision.
-Tape: Lots and lots of tape to adhere items to the pages of
your journal.
-Relevant items: If you have a theme, gather things related
to the theme. Otherwise, use things you wish to include.
-Stickers and embellishments: Use stickers and other
embellishments to decorate the pages.
2. Add items to journal
Add your gathered items to your journal using tape or other
adhesive. You may have an idea for how you want your journal to look, or you
may want to see how it goes and play it by ear.
3. Embellish your pages
Use stickers and other items to decorate the pages beyond
your items if you wish. I add stickers to things like tickets to add some
flair. This makes the pages more fun and colorful, especially if your items are
not as colorful.
4. Add more items as you collect more
You may be able to fill your journal with items you have.
However, you may have some room left and want to keep adding more. See how and
where you can get more things to fill your pages. You can decide if you want to
decorate the backs of the pages as well.
5. Show off your work… if you want
If you want, you can share your journal with loved ones. They will love to see your personality and creativity on display. You worked hard on your journal, so do not be shy about showing it off to the world. However, if your collection is a bit more personal, you may opt to keep it to yourself and not show anyone. The choice is entirely yours!
