On February 27, 2026, Dervish released their new show, “Great Irish Songbook,” on PBS stations across the United States. The show is a collection of songs that have been solidified in Irish music history and culture, as well as an overview of the history of Irish music.

Audiences viewing the show on PBS will be jealous of those in the live audience. It looks like everyone in the room is having so much fun, from the musicians of Dervish themselves to the in-person audience members.

While the band played an instrumental song to begin with, they were introducing the show. The song was a fun, upbeat song. There are several times throughout the show when there is talking over the music. The whole premise of the show is to focus on the music, so it would be better for there to be talking between songs.

The first full song featured on the show was “Red Haired Mary.” Personally, I have never heard the song until this show, so it was nice to learn a new song. It is catchy and fun to listen to. Audience members at the show in-person were singing along and having a great time.

Throughout the show, the band plays a mix of upbeat, happy songs and more mellow and even sad songs. This fully captures the essence of Irish music and Irish history at large. The music of Ireland is deeply connected to and rooted in history, which has had its ups and downs. The music has survived, which is a true testament to Irish culture.

The show not only focuses on the music of Dervish, but it is also a walk through the history of Irish music. It touches on all aspects of Irish music, from concerts to traditional Irish music sessions. It is informative while being entertaining at the same time.

At one point in the show, there was talk about the feelings of Irish music, whether it is sad, energetic, or relaxing. The show features songs that feature these qualities. This helps viewers to understand the broad span of Irish music.

Overall, the show is a cozy and intimate look at Dervish’s music as well as the history of Irish music. It is informative, both in terms of hearing songs for the first time as well as learning about the culture behind Irish music. Viewers will also hear familiar songs, which will bring them memories of learning and hearing the songs.
