On September 19, 2025, Scottish rock band Biffy Clyro released their latest album, “Futique.” The album consists of 11 songs, three of which are labeled as explicit. It was produced by Jonathan Gilmore. This is the band’s 10th studio album.
Biffy Clyro is made up of Ben Johnston on drums and backing
vocals, James Johnston on bass and backing vocals, and Simon Neil on vocals,
guitar, keyboards, and piano. The album includes lead single "A Little
Love" as well as "Hunting Season", "True Believer", and
"Goodbye." All of the tracks on the album were written by Simon Neil.
The mixing on the album is really well done. There are
moments where the sound resembles metal, especially with the guitar sounds and
how intense the background instrumentals are. However, the vocals always come
in clear. Even though the band’s Scottish accents come through at points, the
lyrics are understandable.
Each song is a bit different in terms of sound and song
content, but the voice of the album always comes back to the band’s unique
voice. They have built their sound over the past 30 years, and they are a solid
rock band.
The album feels long when audiences are listening to it, but
when it is over, it feels like it should keep going. While it is satisfying to
have an album that feels complete, it is also good when an album feels like it
should keep going. However, this album does have a complete story arc with the
songs. Luckily, listeners who are craving more from the band can listen to
their other material.
The album kicks off with “A Little Love,” which was the lead
single from the album. It is the perfect time for everything going on in the
world. We can conquer the injustices and hatred of the world “with a little
love.”
Overall, this album is perfect for rock fans, particularly
those who love the sound of 1990s and early 2000s rock. The album is a great
introduction to the band for those who are newer to their music, and it is a
great continuation of the band’s repertoire for those who have been long-time
fans.
