The idea for this post and future posts that are similar came from the O’McPub Band. They played an Irish parody of Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club,” and this is the same idea with variation. I wanted to do my own version of their parody.
Chappell Roan has plunged into stardom over the past few
years and her songs have become ingrained in pop culture. One of her most
popular songs is called “Pink Pony Club.” This is a parody I wrote of the song.
It is about a man who grew up in Kilkenny, Ireland, but left because of the
Great Famine. He finds his way to New York City and finds an Irish community at
a fictional pub called Sean’s Irish Pub.
Sean’s Irish Pub
[Verse 1]
I know you wanted me to stay
But things are getting worse and worse; I have to get away
I heard that there’s a special place
Where all my dreams will soon come true by working hard each
day
[Refrain]
I still love Ireland, but there’s no work for me
I hear a voice that says, “There’s hope in NYC.”
I’ll make my parents proud, I’ll live a better life
But I still have my doubts. I hope my choice is right
[Pre-Chorus]
“Son, where have you gone?
You’re in a large town, it’s different from home.” Oh mama
I will be just fine.
I found other Irish friends, we eat at a place here that’s
called
[Chorus]
Sean’s Irish Pub, we meet every evening down at
Sean’s Irish Pub, they play trad music here in
Old NYC. I’m gonna keep on coming here to
Sean’s Irish Pub, Sean’s Irish Pub
[Verse 2]
Paddy came here from Dublin
He lost his whole family and farm in the Famine
Like me, he seeks a better life
We keep praying that someday we each will find a wife
[Refrain]
I still miss Ireland, there’s nothing quite like home
Things here are pretty hard, but I’m not losing hope
My parents do seem proud, I miss them more each day
But they’ve lost everything; I’m glad I got away
[Pre-Chorus]
“Son, where have you gone?
You’re in a large town, it’s different from home.” Oh mama
I will be just fine.
I found other Irish friends, we eat at a place here that’s
called
[Chorus]

Sean’s Irish Pub, Sean’s Irish Pub
[Verse 3]
Don’t think I’ve left you all behind
I love you in Kilkenny, you’re always on my mind
I hope to visit you one day
It’d be easier to do if I weren’t far away
[Refrain]
I will miss Ireland until my dying day
But New York’s my new home; I’m always here to stay
I miss my parents so I write to them each week
I have found the life that they still dream to seek
[Pre-Chorus]
“Son, where have you gone?
You’re in a large town, it’s different from home.” Oh mama
I will be just fine.
