Album Review: "Oylegate" by Paddy Hanna

On April 11, 2025, Irish cult musician Paddy Hanna released his latest album, “Oylegate.” The album consists of nine songs and was released via Strange Brew. It was produced by Daniel Fox.

The mixing of the album is very well done. The instruments are in perfect balance with the vocals and the vocals are easy to understand over the instruments. This balance can be difficult, but it is done perfectly on this album.

Each song on the album has a different feel and vibe to it, showcasing Hanna’s talent at crossing genre boundaries and exploring various sounds. The songs of the album journey between the highs and lows that we all experience in life. With the different songs and various subjects, there is truly something for everyone to connect to and love, and this will change as listeners continue to experience life.

The first song, “No Sleep For Life,” resembled Andrew Lipke’s song, “The One,” from his “Siddhartha” album. This is a great thing, as that song and album are amazing! The song has an electronic sound combined with a new age feel that leaves listeners in a trance.

On this album, Hanna took creative freedom to a whole new level with experimenting with his sound. His sound is different from that of his previous albums, but he braved potential judgment to expand his horizons and try new things. Musicians are under constant pressure to live up to fans’ expectations of what their sound should be, but the beauty and strength of Hanna’s music is his confidence in defying expectations. Being able to play different styles and experiment with new sounds allows Hanna to potentially reach new fans. He is willing to try new things, which will only benefit him as he marches forward in his music career.

Overall, this album is one of the most unique albums in the world right now. The songs are all unique, yet Hanna’s voice and style resonate throughout each track. He is bold enough to take risks with different sounds and styles and is willing to be vulnerable. These things will help him connect with fans old and new.
