Famine Walk

This event commemorates the famine that took place beginning
in 1845. In 1847, nearly 400 starving adults and children walked 10 miles from
Louisburgh to Doolough to meet a Board of Guardians who were supposed to help
them with food or a ticket to the workhouse. The walk honors and remembers
them.
