Manitoba Highland Gathering

Famine Walk

This event commemorates the famine that took place beginning in 1845. In 1847, nearly 400 starving adults and children walked 10 miles from Louisburgh to Doolough to meet a Board of Guardians who were supposed to help them with food or a ticket to the workhouse. The walk honors and remembers them.

Scotland's First Warriors
