Team Céilí, led by Irish singer Raymond Coleman, is holding a fundraiser to support autism support rooms in local schools. The event will be held on Monday, April 27, from 6-10 pm at the Ashburner Inn in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The event, which is free to attend, will feature 20 musicians, raffle baskets, and a chance to donate at the door. Food and drinks will be available as well. Performers include Coleman himself, Luke Jardel, Stall the Digger, Natty Lite, and more.
The money raised will support local autism support
classrooms by obtaining sensory items, proper gear, and other items that will
help kids with autism. Schools struggle to afford these items, so the
fundraiser is hoping to make an impact by providing the items.
People who want to help out can volunteer to help keep
things moving throughout the night. People can also help with raffles. Those
wanting to donate, even if they are unable to attend the event, can do so on
the fundraiser’s GoFundMe page. Even
sharing the event can make a difference. People can also sponsor something.
In addition to the fundraiser on April 27, various pubs and restaurants
have stepped up to help the cause. Dooney’s Pub is
donating $1 from every pint of Guinness to Team Céilí. New Deck Tavern is donating proceeds
from their 40th birthday merch to show their support.
Coleman was inspired to create the fundraiser, and those in
the past, when his daughter, Céilí, was diagnosed with autism at a young age.
He saw how important and life-changing sensory items are, but knew that schools
are unable to afford these items. Previous fundraisers have brought in $60,000
to help purchase sensory items. Coleman has seen firsthand how these items have
helped Céilí and her friends.
Coleman is a musician who was born in Ardboe, County Tyrone.
He currently lives in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area with his family.
