I’ve known all along of my ties to the land,
Where the fields are so green and each day is “grand.”
I feel Ireland’s Call with each step that I take.
As I dream of my homeland, my heart starts to quake.
My ancestors came over to find a new life,
Leaving behind their past pain, loss, and strife.
The story that I carry is deep in my bones
Of hardship and trials so far from their homes.
I long to learn more of the land they called home,
And why from their past they decided to roam.
I wish I could ask them, but they are not here,
But somehow I feel a connection so near.
Someday, I will step on Ireland’s shore
And wonder about my life’s history no more.
But until then, I’ll learn and I’ll wait
When my dream of Ireland is within my fate.
