This is the first time the song has been recorded by a female group. The song was written by Irish composer Phil Coulter and is commonly associated with Irish rugby. The song has been covered by other musicians, who were all male until now.

Women of Éire is a group of 12 women from the four provinces of Ireland. The group is made up of Sina Theil, Chantelle Padden, Caitriona O'Sullivan, Caitríona Sherlock, Tara Howley, The O'Neill Sisters, Elle Marie O'Dwyer, Ciara Fox, Laura Colgan, and Róisín Lyons. Although this song is the band’s first single, the group has a social media following of over 85,000 people.

The group is spearheaded by Sina Theil, a German-born musician based in Ireland. According to Theil’s website, Women of Éire is planning on releasing a studio album in the middle of the year of 2026. It will be Theil’s fourth studio album. The album will feature a new Irish-language track and seeks to showcase the relevance, strength, and diversity of Irish female musicianship.
