On October 3, 2025, Scottish soft rock band Wet Wet Wet released their latest album, “Strings Attached.” The album consists of 12 songs that are reimaginations of the band’s biggest hits. It also features a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain.”

As someone who has never heard of this band, I am not familiar with the original versions of the songs. However, it is obvious that the band loves the songs they sing. This album’s versions of the songs feel like listeners are sitting in the room with the band, watching them perform these songs in a small, intimate venue.

The pared-down versions of some of the songs on the album have a 70s feel. The vocals are smooth and soulful. While the songs are not super upbeat, they provide a different feel that allows long-time fans of the band to be reacquainted with the band and for new listeners to discover these songs in a unique way.

While the songs have a cozy feel, the pared-down versions all kind of sound alike. This makes me want to go back and listen to the original songs. I feel like this is the goal of any album, but especially an album that is the reimagining of previous songs.

Each of the songs has a unique instrumentation. The band used instruments including guitar, bass, drums, double bass, accordion, mandolin, tambourine, a string section, and more. The instruments are in perfect balance with the vocals, and the vocals and lyrics are easy to understand.

Fans of traditional Celtic music will appreciate “Sweet Little Mystery.” Most of the song has a typical soft rock sound, but during an instrumental break, the instruments play the tune, “Song For a Found Harmonium.” It was a pleasant little surprise and nod to traditional music.

The album is a great precursor to the band’s 2026 acoustic tour. If long-time fans are unsure how the band will sound with acoustic versions of their songs, “Strings Attached” is a great way to get a feel of whether or not the tickets may be worth it. Most fans do not get a chance to hear acoustic renditions of songs before the live show, so this is special.

Overall, this album is perfect for fans of Wet Wet Wet or those looking for some music to put on in the background. None of the songs are labeled as explicit, making it a great album to have on, no matter who is around to listen.
