Album Review: "Moment in Time" by The Gothard Sisters

"Moment In Time" GothardSisters

On October 17, 2025, the Gothard Sisters, a Celtic band from Edmond, Washington, released their latest album, “Moment In Time.” The group is made up of Greta, Willow, and Solana, who perform Celtic music and Irish dance choreography. The album consists of 12 songs.

This album was worked on over the course of two years. The music is a mix of instrumental tunes and songs with lyrics. Each song holds true to traditional Celtic music. The band uses traditional Celtic instruments, such as fiddles and penny whistles, to get the Celtic sound.

Like traditional Celtic music, the Gothard Sisters employ storytelling in their songs, even in the instrumental tracks. This allows listeners to go on a story throughout the album. The songs are original tracks infusing Celtic inspiration into their folk sound.

The mixing on the album is well done. It is easy to understand the vocals over the instrumentals in the background. When there is a break in the vocals, the instrumentals come forward and take center stage, stepping back when the vocals return.

The album has a lot of little nuggets of wisdom sprinkled throughout. “It might not be the fast way, but it’s the way I know,” which is a line from "Golden Secrets," is such a clever line that many will relate to. Many people have their own ways of doing things that work for them, even if it is not the most efficient in the long run.

Like Celtic music, the album has songs that touch on difficult moments in life, including parting ways. “See You Down The Road” is such a song. It resembles classics such as “Parting Glass” and “Auld Lang Syne” in terms of hoping to meet again in the future. The Gothard  Sisters have an instant classic with this song.

Overall, this is a great album for those who love Celtic music, even if it is performed by a band from the United States. Their sound and vocals stay true to traditional Irish and Celtic music through the instruments and styles they use. The band has a similar sound and feel to the Wailin’ Jennys, to the point I sent the video of “Lavender Moon” to a couple of friends who are both huge Wailin’ Jennys fans.
