On Saturday, March 8, 2025, Glenside will hold its first annual St. Patrick’s Day parade and festival. The event kicks off at 1 p.m. with the parade, which begins at the intersection of Parkdale and Abington Avenues. The parade continues down Edgley Avenue, Mt. Carmel Avenue, and Keswick Avenue before concluding at Keswick Village. After the parade, the festival will begin in Keswick Village.
According to Tim McLoone, the parade and festival was
started as a tribute to and celebration of the Irish heritage that exists in
the Glenside community.
“Glenside has a rich Irish history with many families who
emigrated here from Ireland years ago,” says McLoone. “ It only seems
fitting to celebrate that and recognize the Irish culture that is ever present
in the community.”
The parade will feature marching bands, dance troupes, local
organizations, and a variety of floats. The festival will feature food,
vendors, live music, kids’ activities, and more. A list of performances and the
stages can be viewed here. Parking
will be available on side streets.
“We hope that it will be a nice enhancement to an already
great group of community events that are hosted in Glenside each year and bring
together the community in a new and special way,” says McLoone.
The event is being organized by the Glenside St. Patrick's Day Parade Association. Committee members include Colleen McDermott, Tom Hendel, Jamey Piggott, Caiti Croke, Noreen McAleer, Megan Glanz, Tom Regan, Linda Gerhard, Jen Eyre, Tim McLoone, Maureen Haff, Jamie Breznicky, Bill Donahue, Kerri Donahue, Matt Hungerford and Molly Stanton.
