“You Shamrock My World” is a children’s book written by Rose Rossner. It is a pun-filled book about telling someone you care about just how much you love them and how much they mean to you. Whether it is a child or someone else, it is important to remind people how much we care, and this book emphasizes this.

The puns in this book are glorious. I am someone who is obsessed with making silly puns and jokes, so I really appreciated this book for that reason alone. They were natural and creative without feeling too forced.

I personally purchased the board book version for the kids where I work. Books are great to have in any childcare setting, but paper books, especially when dealing with toddlers, can be destroyed and ripped easily. Board books are more durable and tend to last longer.

This book is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day. It has an Irish theme sprinkled throughout, making it perfect for those who celebrate the holiday. Each page points out something new to deal with the holiday. It even managed to sneak in “pint” in a way that does not mention alcohol.

On the page about leprechauns, there is what appears to be a girl leprechaun pictured. While the inclusivity is appreciated, in Irish mythology, leprechauns were only male. Female leprechauns simply did not exist in Irish mythology. However, this inaccuracy is slight and can be overlooked for the sake of representation.

Those who have been to Ireland or know someone who is Irish know that “Top o’ the morning” is not something that is typically said. This is just an example of how the book is the Americanized version of the holiday, but the message of love remains strong.

Overall, this book is a great book for kids for St. Patrick’s Day. Kids need to know that they are loved and cared for, whether it is by a parent, family member, friend, or other loved one. Despite a slight inaccuracy, this book gets its message across. For people looking for a kids’ book that is more culturally accurate, this is not it, but its message of love spans all cultures and boundaries.
