On November 7, 2025, Welsh-Australian singer Stella Donnelly released her latest album, “Love and Fortune.” Marcel Tussie, Sophie Ozard, Julia Wallace, Timothy Harvey, Ellie Mason, and Jack Gaby all teamed up to collaborate on the album. The album consists of 11 songs.
All of the songs on the album were written by Donnelly, and
they were all produced by Donnelly except for “Year of Trouble” (co-produced by
SD and Julia Wallace) and “Please Everyone” (co-produced by SD and Ellie Mason).
All of the album’s songs were engineered by Julia Wallace, except for “Please
Everyone,” which was engineered by Ellie Mason. The album was mixed by Timothy
Harvey and mastered by Becki Whitton.
The mixing on the album is well done. There are minimal background
instruments, which helps, but it is still something that needs to be done well
so that listeners can hear. Donnelly’s vocals can easily be heard and
understood throughout the song.
The songs all have a similar vibe and sound. While there are
songs that sounded like they were going to be different, they ended up having a
similar vibe. Donnelly has a clear sound and style that she goes for, and fans
will appreciate this fact.
“Baths” perfectly showcases Donnelly’s voice. It starts off
acapella, and a steady droning noise joins at some point. Donnelly’s vocal
control on this song is uncanny. Her voice sounds deeper on this song than on
other songs, and she has such silent power within her songs.
“Year of Trouble” is a song that many people will be able to
relate to. Whether they connect to the lyrics literally or can relate on a more
symbolic level, most people have had rough years and difficult patches. This
song is a comfort that we are not alone in our struggles, and that we will eventually
be on the other side.
Overall, this album is absolutely stunning. The songs are
peaceful and relaxing. They sound mostly the same, but they all have a different
message. Even the songs that sound like they were going to be different ended
up with similar vibes. This made the album a bit drawn out and boring. None of
the songs are labeled as explicit.
