Irish rapper Curtisy released his album, “Beauty in the Beast,” on May 30, 2025. It was produced by Hikii, mixed and mastered by Kylte, and released on Brook Records.
One thing that is cool about the album is how the songs flow
into each other flawlessly. The end of “Dracula” mentions bees, and it transitions
into “Milk and Honey.” The opening line of “W” is “A wet whistle works wonders,”
and the next song is “Drunk Flow.” These transitions are well done and expertly
planned.
Another thing about the planning of the album’s track order
is the first and last songs. The first song is “Dracula” and the final song is “The
Necessary Evil…” The latter song references monsters, serial killers, and other
“evil” things. It is cool how the album starts and ends on similar topics.
The album did end with an abrupt final note in “The
Necessary Evil…” That song was packed with “evil” things that draw listeners in
to see what it is talking about and then the song ends. This leaves listeners
wanting the album to continue, which is a good thing.
Each song on this album is unique and has a different feel
to it while honing in on Curtisy’s sound and voice. This keeps the album interesting
and makes sure the listener remains engaged with the album from start to finish.
The album has 12 songs on it, but it feels longer because there is so much packed
into it.
“W!” is such a creative song. It starts out with
alliteration around the letter “W” and builds the song around it. This first
line keeps listeners wanting to hear more alliteration throughout the song and may
even inspire them to listen to it over and appreciate all the song has to
offer.
Overall, this is a great starter album for those who are interested in listening to rap but are looking for an easy entry point into the genre. The songs on this album are not as intense other rap songs. It helps that Curtisy’s Irish accent shines through. All of the songs are labeled as explicit. Irish rap is making a splash, especially after the release of the “Kneecap” film.
