Dublin-based band Search Results released their latest album, “Go Mutant,” on May 23, 2025. The album was recorded by Darragh Hansard at Orc’s Lair in Dublin and by Search Results in Yellow Door Music Studios in Dublin.
Search Results formed in 2019 after the members moved to
Dublin for college. They released their first EP, “Mirrors,” in 2021 and their
second EP, “No Punchline Arousal,” the following year. The band released their
first full-length album, “Information Blip,” in 2023. “Go Mutant” is their
second full album.
The album features Adam Hoban on electric bass, electric
guitar, percussion, and vocals. Fionn Brennan provides electric and acoustic
guitar, organ, synth, and vocals for the album. Jack Condon contributed drums,
percussion, organ, synth, acoustic guitar, and vocals. It was mixed and
mastered by Mikey Young.
“Go Mutant” contains 13 tracks, none of which are marked “explicit”
on streaming services. The album is mixed well, with the vocals in perfect
balance with the background instruments. The album gives a nod to influences from
the '60s and '70s. Listeners who love bands like the Beatles and the Doors will
find something on this album that they love.
The overall feel of the album is consistent. The band sticks
to their voice over the course of the album, keeping their sound and vibe the
same throughout. While some may find this boring, fans of the band and this
kind of music will appreciate the uniformity. Each song holds something a little
bit different while staying true to the band’s style and signature sound.
The album has a bit of a darkness to it that resembles the gothic
music of the 1960s and ‘70s, particularly in bands like the Doors. Their music
also pays homage to punk and post-punk musicians. It is cool to hear a modern
adaptation of these earlier music styles, especially for listeners who love
this style of music. This music in the current musical climate is refreshing
for the old souls out there. Some of the older bands may not be touring anymore,
but we can still experience similar music via Search Results.
Overall, this album is quite an enjoyable listen, especially
for those who love the Doors and similar bands from the 1960s and ‘70s. Their
sound is consistently theirs throughout the album, even when they experiment
with different things.
